Yvonne's soccer involvement started off as a player in 1977 when the St. Lawrence Ladies won the Burin Peninsula title in their first year of play. The ladies were coached by Jr. Edwards and Rudy Slaney. Her contributions as a builder also started in 1977 when she was the St. Lawrence Ladies Rep.

From 1977 to the present day Yvonne has served in a number of executive positions on the St. Lawrence Soccer Association such as Secretary, acting Minor Chairperson, Vice-President, Registrar, and Treasurer. Yvonne has also played a major role with the St. Lawrence Soccer Moms for the past 12 years as she has had all three of her children involved in soccer.

On the Burin Peninsula Soccer Association, she was Registrar for seven years and served on the first Burin Peninsula Soccer Hall of Fame Committee.

Yvonne replaced Bob Slaney as the Burin Peninsula's Director for the Newfoundland Soccer Association and served for three years and was also the Burin Peninsulas Challenge Cup Liason for three years.

Besides Soccer Yvonne is committed to her community in other areas as she has given willingly of her time to such organization as St. Lawrence Heritage, Homecoming Committee, Secretary of Christmas Telethon for the Parish, Mardi Gras Committee Secretary, Marian Elementary School Council member, Parent Representative and Financial Chair of the Playground Committee.

Yvonne's contribution to soccer, community, and parish can only come about with a great deal of support and understanding and the credit there goes to her Hall of Fame husband, Junior and her three loving children.
